QUESTION 179: I have all the Godzilla films on dvd, but some are not in widescreen, why is that.

A:The first two Godzilla films, GOJIRA and GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN, were made before Toho started filming their movies in Toho Scope/Cinemascope so they're supposed to be full screen on DVD. All the other Godzilla movies were filmed in widescreen... if the DVDs are not, it may be that the DVD company didn't have widescreen materials or they thought pan & scan would be better. Some of Sony's earlier Godzilla DVDs like GODZILLA VS KING GHIDORAH were full screen but after fans complained they put out other Godzilla movies in widescreen.

QUESTION 178: is it possible for classic media to get the rights to the zone fighter show? Even though its about a ultraman like hero, godzilla does appear in five episodes, as well as gigan who gets a third fight with godzilla, and king ghidorah has a two parter with zone fighter.

A:Right now Classic Media does not plan on getting the rights for the Zone Fighter Show. It could be something that we could look into in the future.

A:Yes, the next volume comes out on June 5th

QUESTION 175:do you know if you or anyone else will ever possibly release a dvd of the Megalon and 1984 movies?

A:Just GHIDORAH and INVASION OF ASTRO-MONSTER on June 5th. We'll announce exact future dates when we know for sure.

QUESTION 173: Will Classic Media try to get the rights to the other Godzilla movies if they become available, and do you know when they might become available? I would love to see them all released like the ones you have already released.

A:Classic Media may be interested if American rights to any Godzilla films reverted back to Toho, but we don't expect that to happen any time soon.

QUESTION 172: Can you obtain the rights for other Toho monster films such as War of the Gargantuas or Mothra 3. I know that there is a great demand for those films. Any chance of us seeing those?

A:Classic Media owns WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS and has already announced that the movie will be coming to DVD after the Godzilla films have been released. See Question 41 for REBIRTH OF MOTHRA 3.

QUESTION 165: Besides Godzilla (which is really cool) are you guys going to bring any other Toho titles to the United States? Also how about bringing the later Ultraman series here to the States. Ultraman\'s cool.

A:The Godzilla movies will be followed by RODAN and WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS. There are no plans for other Toho films or Ultraman right now, but Tsuburaya Productions (the company that makes Ultraman) is hoping to bring more of the shows to America. We agree that Ultraman is cool... he was created by Godzilla's fx director Eiji Tsuburaya, after all.

QUESTION 159: Why is Angirus considered a weak monster when it gave Godzilla one heck of a fight in "Godzilla raids again".

A: Some fans think Anguirus is a weaker monster because he has no long-range weapons and gets beaten up by other monsters like Godzilla and King Ghidorah. Other people think he's tough because he keeps fighting against stronger foes. Anguirus' "never surrender" attitude has made him one of Toho's most beloved monsters.

QUESTION 158: I have been most impressed by your DVDs of GOJIRA, MOTHRA VS GODZILLA, and GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN. Outstanding, all of them! Can you give us Godzilla fans any idea when we will see more of these discs, like GHIDRAH THE 3-HEADED MONSTER and MONSTER ZERO? Many thanks, and keep up the great work!

QUESTION 141: If they do make another film do you think Toho could put it in American Theators because I loved seeing Godzilla 2000 in a theater when I was in 3rd grade opening day.

Toho tried to do a remake in the early 1990s but they couldn't get the rights to use King Kong. QUESTION 92: I understand that the rights to the other Godzilla movies prevents Classic media to release them as of now however is there a chance if sales are high for the seven that classic media own is it possible that they'll try to buy rights to the others?

A: No, because most of the other movies are already out on DVD. We will keep an eye out for any Godzilla movies that revert back to Toho.

QUESTION 91: but Godzilla has a heat ray and King Kong has just plain ape skin. Why Godzilla use his heat ray on King Kong to kill him?

A: ATRAGON is already out on DVD from Media Blasters. Media Blasters also has plans to release FRANKENSTEIN CONQUERS THE WORLD in 2007.

QUESTION 83: WHEN YOU DO RELEASE BOTH WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS AND RODAN WILL THE ENGLISH VERSION BE IN WIDESCREEN?

A: Both the US and Japanese versions of WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS will be in widescreen. Toho filmed RODAN in the Academy aspect ratio (approximately 1.33:1) so the DVD will have both versions in the original full screen.

QUESTION 82 are there any plans now or in the future of maybe making an awesome film if done right having Godzilla battle my kool turtle friend Gamera?

A: Never say never, but Kadokawa Pictures (the company that owns Gamera) wanted to make a "Godzilla vs Gamera" movie and Toho wasn't interested.

A: They are only available from godzillaondvd.com at this time. Amazon and other retailers will start selling them in spring 2007.

QUESTION 76: On the Mothra vs. Godzilla DVD, is the English dubbed version of the film in full screen or widescreen format?

A: The American version GODZILLA VS THE THING is in 1.78:1 widescreen. Check the Godzilla Blog for more info: http://www.godzillaondvd.com/blog/

QUESTION 75: When will Ghidrah the Three Headed Monster be released on DVD? Will there be any attempt to restore the original film prints or digitally remaster them?

A: The exact date hasn't been announced yet, but look for GHIDORAH in early 2007. Toho has restored their older films, but Classic Media DVDs are re-mastered from Toho's materials.

QUESTION 74: Some of the original US title screens spell Ghidorah as Ghidrah; as in Ghidrah the Three Headed Monster. Is this just a difference in the original translation?

A: The spelling of the monster's name was shortened to "Ghidrah" by Continental Distributing, the company that first released GHIDRAH THE THREE-HEADED MONSTER in America. We don't know if Continental ever said why they made the change; it may be that they felt "Ghidrah" sounded better. "Ghidorah" is Toho's official spelling, and Toho has requested that the title GHIDORAH THE THREE-HEADED MONSTER be used on the upcoming DVD from Classic Media.

QUESTION 73: Do you have any intentions of releasing the movie Varan The Unbelievable?

A: No, because Media Blasters released VARAN THE UNBELIEVABLE on DVD in 2005.

QUESTION 72: What are releases coming soon? What is next? My son is really into Godzilla (I\'m a proud father) and thanks you for re-releasing these classics for him to own. I\'d kind of like to see a Godzilla vs Monster Zero or something else rare. What is your take on Godzilla losing to King Kong in the movie. I, as a Godzilla fan, thought it was totally bogus.

A:Up next is the retail release of GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN and MOTHRA VS GODZILLA, and DVDs of GHIDORAH THE THREE-HEADED MONSTER and INVASION OF ASTRO MONSTER/MONSTER ZERO. Glad to hear your son is a big Godzilla fan; please tell him Godzilla said "hello". The original KING KONG was a major inspiration for Toho to make GOJIRA, and they were thrilled when they got a chance to make their own film with King Kong and Godzilla. Godzilla losing in the end was a way for Toho to honor Kong for his important role in creating Godzilla.

QUESTION 71: Why can't I find these in stores? Is it true that there were some issues with the DVDs? Please let the fans know in time for x-mas!

A:GOJIRA is available in stores, and retailers will start selling GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN and MOTHRA VS GODZILLA next year. You can also buy all three films right now at godzillaondvd.com. Some copies of GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN (and only GRA) had a video problem which has been fixed. Classic Media is offering free replacement GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN DVDs to godzillaondvd customers who got a faulty disc. Anyone who orders the DVD now will get the corrected DVD.

QUESTION 70: thematic changes happen when Gojira becomes Godzilla?

A: The audio commentaries on the GOJIRA DVD detail all the changes to the movie's story and themes, so give them a listen.

QUESTION 69: Hi. I am 9 years old. I am trying to get every Godzilla movie on DVD and I need a Gihdorah the 3 headed monster. Maybe can you release the Gihdorah DVD a little earlier in Japanese with Engilish subtitles? Also I was wodering if you can release Godzilla vs Megalon on DVD?

A: Hello! GHIDORAH is coming out in 2007 so hang in there. Another company owns MEGALON so we can't release it on DVD. Sorry about that.

QUESTION 68: What are the names of the different distributors you sold us rights to? I would like to get all of the movies by godzilla and not from ace video, goodtimes home videosimitar entertainment or ?Maybe? tri star. I want the distributors you actually sold the rights to.

A: Toho makes the Godzilla movies, and they sold US rights to distributors. The site is run by one of those distributors, Classic Media. Classic Media didn't sell any US Godzilla rights; we bought US rights to seven Godzilla films from Toho. Sony Pictures has 16 Godzilla movies. The other five films are split between three or four other companies.

QUESTION 67: What are the other 3 movies that you will be releasing on dvd? should I get them now or wait for the box set? I had pre-ordered them on Amazon.ca, now they are showing as delayed, whats the scoop?

A: Classic Media has released 3 of their 7 Godzilla films (see Question #3 for a list of all the Godzilla movies CM is bring to DVD). The box set won't come out until late 2007 so it's up to you whether to wait for it or get the individual DVDs as they come out. Amazon and other retailers will start selling GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN and MOTHRA VS GODZILLA next year, but you can buy them now at godzillaondvd.com.

QUESTION 66: IS EVERY GODZILLA MOVIE MADE ON DVD, AND IF SO WHERE CAN YOU GET THE THEM. I WOULD LIKE TO FILL IN THE BLANKS IN MY COLLECTION.

A: After all the Classic Media DVDs are released, 25 of the 28 Godzilla films will be on DVD in North America. You can find the DVDs in retail stores, online, or from godzillaondvd.com.

QUESTION 65: What are your plans for future releases, and will you be giving the same quality treatment to other non-godzilla toho or honda films?

A:The five remaining Godzilla films (see Question #3) and the boxed set will be released in 2007. Once the Godzilla films are done, Classic Media will follow with DVDs of Ishiro Honda's RODAN and WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS.

QUESTION 64: Which Godzilla film is the most unsuccessful? And which is the most successful? I.e. box office stats?

A: KING KONG VS GODZILLA was the most successful Godzilla film at the box office, followed by the original GOJIRA. TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA had the lowest ticket sales, but GODZILLA: FINAL WARS was probably the least successful Godzilla film because it had a very high budget and only earned back half of its production costs.

QUESTION 63: When is Godzilla vs Biollante/Godzilla vs Megalon going to be released on DVD? If not, who owns the rights?

A: HSee Question #27 for information on BIOLLANTE, and Question #34 for MEGALON.

UESTION 62: Also is Minya male or female?

A: Minya is called the SON of Godzilla, which means he's male.

QUESTION 61: So where did the Minya name come from? And why is he not called Godzilla Jr?

A: Minya is an English variation of the Japanese name "Minira", which means "Mini Gojira". Toho's official English name for the monster is Minilla, as in "Mini Godzilla". He's not called Godzilla Jr because Toho chose to name him Minira back in 1967.

QUESTION 60: I have heard that Godzilla's name is rumored to have originated from a heavy-set employee at Toho. A combination of the Japanese name for whale and dinosaur.

A: The name is a combination of gorira (Japanese for "gorilla") and kujira (whale). See Question # 8 for more details on the origins of Godzilla's name.

QUESTION 59: What was Godzilla before he was mutated?

A: In GOJIRA, Dr. Yamane theorizes that Godzilla was a hybrid of land and sea reptiles from the Age of Dinosaurs. In GODZILLA VS GHIDORAH, the pre-mutated Godzilla is shown to be a dinosaur called Godzillasaurus.

QUESTION 58: How does Godzilla keep coming back again and again after they finish him?

A: He's a movie monster, and they always come back. There have also been different Godzillas over the years and only two-the original and the one from GODZILLA VS DESTOROYAH-were definitively killed, so Godzilla could always return for another film.

QUESTION 57: what happens to burning godzilla in at the end in godzilla vs destroyah

A: He died.

QUESTION 56: Is Godzilla 1985 in continuity with "Gojira"?

A: Yes. GODZILLA 1985 started the Heisei series of Godzilla movies and is a direct sequel to the original GOJIRA. The American dubbing tries to make it seem like the first Godzilla had returned, but the Japanese films like GODZILLA VS KING GHIDORAH and GODZILLA VS DESTOROYAH explained that the original Godzilla had been killed by the Oxygen Destroyer in 1954 and a second Godzilla attacked Japan in 1984-85.

QUESTION 55: I have a question. It's been widely stated that Godzilla vs. Megalon was the first in the series to receive a prime-time debut on U.S. television but I seem to remember quite a big to do being made over King Kong vs. Godzilla when it was first shown, sometime in the early 70\'s I believe. I have a clear memory of there being at least on ad in T.V. Guide for the film, and seem to remember that T.V. Guide also had a small \"close-up\" article on the night of the showing, which I believe was a Saturday night. I\'ve tried to find the T.V. Guide in question with no success, so is my memory faulty, or was K.K. vs. G actually the first to get a prime-time premier? Thanks for any help.

A: As far as we know, GODZILLA VS MEGALON was the first-and only- Godzilla movie to receive a network primetime premiere. The movie was shown all across the country on NBC. Other Godzilla films were syndicated to various television stations around the country and would have played at different times (including primetime) in different markets... for example, GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS was first shown in Los Angeles on KHJ-TV's "Channel 9 Movie Theater" at 5 and 11pm.

QUESTION 54: What ever happened to the proposed 3D IMAX Godzilla movie that was seeking a financial backer? Did it ever get off of the drawing board?

A: Not yet. Director Yoshimitsu Banno is still looking for financing for GODZILLA 3D TO THE MAX.

QUESTION 53: I would like to see "The Last Dinosaur" get released on DVD. It was an American/Tsurabaya coproduction. If it does get released I hope its the widescreen version (japanese laserdisc) and not the full screen American TV version.

A: THE LAST DINOSAUR was a co-production between Rankin/Bass and Tsuburaya Productions. Classic Media owns rights to Rankin/Bass programs made from 1960-1974 (CM has released DVDs of the Rankin/Bass Christmas specials and the animated KING KONG SHOW) and Warner Bros. owns everything from 1975-1989. THE LAST DINOSAUR was made in 1977, so your best bet is to contact Warner Bros. about bringing the movie out on DVD.

QUESTION 52: In most Godzilla films, Godzilla is considered gray, but in the Heisei series, his skin looks black. What is the true skin color of the Heisei Godzilla?

A: Godzilla's color changes from film to film, but is generally a dark charcoal grey. It often looks darker because of lighting, water, and other effects.

QUESTION 51: Why does everyone say that Godzilla Final Wars is the last Godzilla movie Toho will make?

A: They must have misunderstood that Toho announced they're taking a break from Godzilla for a while, not forever. In 2004, Toho president Shogo Tomiyama said, "There will be another Godzilla movie, but it may come from the next generation and be completely new... something beyond the current age."

QUESTION 50: So, Gojira is meant to be a representation of the atomic bombs which were dropped on Japan, right?

A: Godzilla can be seen as a symbol of many things, including the bomb and the horrors of war.

Q: QUESTION 49: Does anybody know if they are ever going to release War of the Gargantuas in widescreen of course to DVD?

A: When WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS comes to DVD it will be in widescreen.

QUESTION 48: Will Classic Media be releasing "War of the Gargantuas" in the future?

A: Yes.

QUESTION 47: Why does Godzilla's Revenge have so much stock footage?

A: Producer Tomoyuki Tanaka used stock footage in GODZILLA'S REVENGE to lower the budget and make sure the movie was profitable for Toho. The movie was made for children and released in Japan as part of package of kids' films, cartoons, and shorts called the Toho Champion Festival.

QUESTION 46: This question does not pertain to godzilla himself, but another kaiju that appears in Destroy all monsters Gorosaurus. Now his first debut is king kong escapes. Now keep in mind I have only seen the dubbed verison, but goro is not mentioned by name. My question is, was goro at first intended to be just a T-rex or an allosaurus in KKE, but when Destroy all monsters came around and toho was looking for kaiju suits to use in the movie and then decided to give the Dino his own name?

A: Toho consistently names all of their monsters, even if those names aren't revealed in the films. Gorosaurus is identified on the posters, print material, and theatrical trailer for KING KONG ESCAPES, so that was Toho's name for the dinosaur from the first appearance on.

QUESTION 45: How did Godzilla destroy King Ghidorah in "Godzilla VS King Ghidorah"?

A: He blasted Ghidorah with his radioactive breath and they both fell into the ocean.

QUESTION 44: How did you become a fan?

A: Most of us became fans when we first saw Godzilla movies in theaters or on TV.

QUESTION 43: In the movie godzilla vs destroyer, godzilla really defeats the oxigen destroyer?

A: In GODZILLA VS DESTOROYAH, Godzilla doesn't fight the Oxygen Destroyer. His opponent is Destoroyah, a monster spawned from the Oxygen Destroyer that was used to kill the first Godzilla in 1954. Destoroyah is shot down and killed by the Japanese Self Defense Force as it attempts to flee from Godzilla.

QUESTION 42: Is there any plans to release the Heisei series films that are currently double-feature discs in their original japanese audio track, on single discs?

A: As far as we know the answer is "no", but you should ask Sony Pictures Home Entertainment since they own the Heisei Godzilla movies.

QUESTION 41: When, if ever will the powers that be release Rebirth of Mothra 3?

A: Sony Pictures owns the US rights to REBIRTH OF MOTHRA 3 so you would have to ask them. Their mailing address is 10202 W. Washington Blvd., Culver City, CA 90232.

QUESTION 40: Is there any translation for the "Song of Peace"?

A: The main lyrics for Oh Peace, Oh Light, Return are "May we outlive destruction May we look to tomorrow with hope May peace and light return to us"

QUESTION 39: Will Godzilla 85 and Biollante ever come to DVD in the US?

A: See Question #27 for information.

QUESTION 38: Did Momoko Kochi (Emiko) speak English?

A: Not that we know of.

QUESTION 37: Do we have an exact date as to when more Godzilla movies will be made? I know the latest (and supposedly last) was Godzilla: Final Wars, but...

A: No exact dates because Toho has no plans to make more Godzilla movies in the near future.

QUESTION 36: will possibly be another godzilla movie in computer graphics but using the original godzilla japanese godzilla?

A: Anything is possible. Toho is taking a break for now from making Godzilla movies, so we'll have to wait and see what they come up with in the future.

QUESTION 35: Why wont they make a new Godzilla movie?

A: Toho made a new Godzilla or monster movie every year from 1991-2004 and they think it's time to take a break and focus on other kinds of movies for a while.

QUESTION 34: Do you think 'Godzilla Vs. Megalon' will get an official US release sometime in the near future? This is a personal favourite of mine and I would love to see Classic Media release a good version of it on DVD!

A: lassic Media does not have the rights to GODZILLA VS MEGALON and we haven't heard of any plans for a US release from any other distributor.

QUESTION 33: when is godzilla raids again gonna be released

A: Tovember 7.

QUESTION 32: Thanks a lot for going through a lot of trouble to get the best possible materials for these wonderful movies.

A: Thank you.

QUESTION 31: Is the movie in widescreen?

A: TThe original GOJIRA and GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN DVDs are not in widescreen because they weren't filmed in the Tohoscope widescreen format. The other Godzilla movies coming from Classic Media were shot in widescreen so they will be presented that way on DVD.

QUESTION 30: Will future DVD releases, such as Ghidrah or Monster Zero, feature the original-release American dubbing, or Toho\'s international English language versions?

A: The Classic Media DVDs will have the original American dubbing. The American version of TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA has always used an English dub created by Toho so that will be on the upcoming DVD.

QUESTION 29: What is Gojira's true height?

A: It changes from film to film, but in GOJIRA he is 50 meters (164 feet) tall.

QUESTION 28: I would like to know if the original version of Godzilla 1985 or Godzilla Returns is ever going to be released on DVD?

A: That's up to Lakeshore Entertainment.

QUESTION 27: Does Classic Media plan to release Godzilla vs Megalon on DVD in a better quality? Or maybe even Goji84 or Biolante?

A: Classic Media does not have the rights to any of those movies so we have no plans to release them. Lakeshore Entertainment owns GODZILLA 1985 and Dimension Films has GODZILLA VS BIOLLANTE so you should contact those companies and request they release the films on DVD.

QUESTION 26: If these new Godzilla DVDs sell well, are there plans to re-release every Godzilla film in the future?

A: No, because Classic Media only has the rights to the Japanese and US versions of 7 Godzilla movies (see Question #3 for a list of CM's titles). The other 21 Godzilla films are divided among 5 or 6 different companies (see Question #18).

QUESTION 25: OK i have a question about the upcoming releases in November I read the following statement off the link below My question is are are they totally off the mark in the new release mins per movie MOTHRA VS. GODZILLA US Version - 89 min / Japanese Version 177 min GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN US Version - 78 min / Japanese Version 160 thanks you and Cannot wait for all these dvd

A: The longer running time is for both versions of each movie. For example, the Japanese version of GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN runs 82 minutes and the US version is 78 minutes so the combined time is 160 minutes.

QUESTION 24: Is The Godzilla Raids Again dvd that will be released on November 7 be the original version?

A: Yes, the DVD will have both the original Japanese version with English subtitles and the dubbed US version.

QUESTION 23: Thanks for finally bringing this film to the US and giving a high quality release to boot. What other Godzilla/Japanese sc-fi films are you planning to release next?

A: You're welcome. Besides GOJIRA/GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS, Classic Media will also release DVDs of GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN, MOTHRA VS GODZILLA/GODZILLA VS THE THING, GHIDORAH THE THREE-HEADED MONSTER, INVASION OF ASTRO MONSTER/MONSTER ZERO, ALL MONSTERS ATTACK/GODZILLA'S REVENGE, and TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA. There are plans to follow the Godzilla DVDs with Toho's RODAN and WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS.

QUESTION 22: In Godzilla Final Wars were did Minilla come from?

A: We have no idea because it's not explained in the movie or screenplay. Logic isn't much of a concern in GODZILLA: FINAL WARS.

QUESTION 21: Is Godzilla Male or Female? Or does he reproduce asexually like the American Godzilla? I think (the japenese one) is male. He just adopted Minya or Minya was his real son and godziila's dead wife laid the egg and it just laid dormant until it was attacked by the kamkiras in "Son of Godzilla"

A: Godzilla is male... that's why Toho calls him "the King of the Monsters". Minya is adopted.

QUESTION 20: In godzilla's revenge baby godzilla is grey and is the size of a kid but in godzilla vs space godzilla he is the size of a hill and he is green?

A: The grey baby Godzilla in GODZILLA'S REVENGE is called Minya (or Minilla). The reason he is so small in that movie is that the story is the dream of a little boy named Ichiro. In other movies like SON OF GODZILLA and DESTROY ALL MONSTERS Minya is much bigger. The baby in GODZILLA VS SPACE GODZILLA is not Minya. He's a different character named Little Godzilla. In GODZILLA VS DESTOROYAH, Little Godzilla grows up and becomes Godzilla Jr.

QUESTION 19: Will the other 27 official Godzilla films be released in Canada as well?

A: All seven Godzilla films that Classic Media owns (see Question #3) will be released in Canada. We don't know about the other movies since they're owned by other companies.

QUESTION 18: I have decided to get all the old Showa series Godzilla movies in the 2 disc sets that have the original and American releases. I have ordered the Gojira and Godzilla Raids Again sets. i know the 2 disc set of Mothra vs. Godzilla can be ordered now, but what about a 2 disc set for King Kong vs. Godzilla? Any plans on that in the near future? I\'d like to collect in order, so I would want the King Kong vs. Godzilla set before I get the Mothra vs. Godzilla. Also, will the 2 disc releases continue? Original Mothra, Ghidorah, the Three Headed Monster, Monster Zero, Godzilla Vs. the Sea Monster, Son of Godzilla. Any plans for 2 disc sets for these?

A: Toho sold US rights for their movies to several different distributors so no one company can release all the Godzilla movies in the United States. Universal owns KING KONG VS GODZILLA, ADV Films has DESTROY ALL MONSTERS, and Sony has most of the other Godzilla movies so you would have to contact those companies about any future DVDs. Classic Media is releasing the Godzilla movies we have the licenses to in chronological order on DVD, but only GOJIRA is a 2-disc set. All the other Classic Media titles will be one disc with both the Japanese and American versions of each film plus extra features.

QUESTION 17: How did Godzilla survive from the age of the dinosaurs to 1954? Did he hidernate? Or did his species survive to 1954 and he was just the last of his kind?

A: TIn Gojira, Dr. Yamane theorizes that Godzilla lived deep in the ocean until he was disturbed by H-Bomb tests. Obviously he wasn't the least since a second Godzilla stars in GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN and a baby Godzilla was introduced in SON OF GODZILLA.

QUESTION 16: If so, do you have any idea when it will be released?

A: Fall, 07

QUESTION 15: Hello, I was wondering if you were still going to release the Box Set.

A: Yes, the DVDs will be released separately and in a 6 movie box set.

QUESTION 14: It's been announced that "G Raids Again" is going to be released 7 November. One account says "Each title will include both the original Japanese and US versions of the films." Does that mean "Gigantis the Fire Monster" with the whacky paleontologist will come with? Or does it mean subbed & dubbed versions of "G Raids Again"? Thanx

A: The DVD has the original Japanese version of GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN with English subtitles, plus the American version with the "Gigantis" dubbing.

QUESTION 13: Hello, any chance you will release other movies of gojira, like the second one and the others?, I'm promoting the release of the movie here in Mexico to let people know about it's release, thank you for releasing the movie in this most awesome dvd set.

A: We're releasing DVDs with the Japanese and US versions of 7 different Godzilla films. See Question #3 for the list of Classic Media's Godzilla movies. Thanks from plugging the DVDs in Mexico!

QUESTION 12: Hi, Will Godzilla and Godzilla: King of the Monsters be released in Canada as well?

A: Yes, on September 5.

QUESTION 11: Where were you at Comic Con? I searched everywhere and couldn't find the Godzilla sampler. My son left very disappointed. He's really looking forward to the September release.

A: There were people handing out the sampler DVDs on the convention floor and the surrounding hotels. The GOJIRA posters were available while supplies lasted at the Dark Horse booth. Sorry that your son missed out, but we're glad to hear he's excited about the DVD.

QUESTION 10: Hey, I was wondering if there was a way for me to get the Gojira promotional poster and the promo CD, via mail?

A: Sorry, but the promotional items are only available at conventions and film festivals.

QUESTION 9: how does godzilla have a son?

A: He adopts.

QUESTION 8: Rumor has it that the while the name "Gojira" was a combination between the words gorilla and kujira (Japanese for whale), there was an employee at Toho who was given that nickname BEFORE the famous monster even had a name. Is there any way to prove or disprove this rumor?

A: There have been claims that the "real" Gojira was a Toho employee who worked as a stage hand, publicist, or actor (depending on who's telling the story), but they're probably nothing but rumors. In 1998, director Ishiro Honda's wife was interviewed by the BBC and she said "The backstage boys at Toho loved to joke around with tall stories, but I don't believe that one... I expect the monster's name was thought up after very careful discussions between Mr. Tanaka, Mr. Tsuburaya and my husband."

QUESTION 7: I have been waiting for this film, and I thank you for it's release! Is there a "deleted scene where Gojira takes down a plane?

A: Not in the first movie.

QUESTION 6: I was wondering, just how similar will the subtitles be to the rialto theatrical release?

A: They're similar to Rialto's subtitles but not exactly the same since the translations were done by different people.

QUESTION 5: ill there be alternative language tracks, as with the later US DVD releases?

A: No, there will be two different versions (both Japanese and American) of each movie on the DVDs.

QUESTION 4: Will this new DVD feature subtitles that can be turned off?

A: Yes.

QUESTION 3: Will all the Shows Series from 1954 to 1975 be released by Classic Media in this same box format with both Japanese and American versions of each film?

A: Classic Media has the license in US and Canada to distribute the following Godzilla movies- GOJIRA/GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS, GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN, MOTHRA VS GODZILLA/GODZILLA VS THE THING, GHIDORAH THE THREE-HEADED MONSTER, INVASION OF ASTRO MONSTER/MONSTER ZERO, ALL MONSTERS ATTACK/GODZILLA'S REVENGE, and TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA- so those are the only Godzilla titles we can release on DVD. All the Classic Media DVDs will have the American and Japanese versions and be packaged in the hardcover cases like GOJIRA.

QUESTION 2: Will there be an English translation of the original Gojira?

A: Yes, the new GOJIRA DVD has the original Japanese version with English subtitles. GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS is dubbed.

QUESTION 1: Are you related in any way to the CM DVD releases or TOHO? Thanks.

A: This is the website for the Classic Media Godzilla DVDs which are licensed and approved by Toho.
